Canoe Ventures, the adverting entity that is a joint venture among the nation’s six largest MSOs, announced today that Gerard Broussard was hired for the newly created position of vice president of research and analytics.

It’s been a busy week of press releases for New York City-based Canoe Ventures. On Monday, it announced the formation of an advisory board.

A spokeswoman for Canoe Ventures said the company was still on track for a spring launch of its RFI (request for information) interactive advertising campaign.

As for Broussard, he is charged with providing a roadmap for the company’s research, data and analytics functions that are tied to digital marketing solutions. He reports to Kathy Timko, COO of the company.

Broussard will manage advanced advertising campaign reporting and analytics for Canoe’s partners and customers and campaign optimization tools and research studies to support Canoe products and data stewardship tools.

“Gerard’s combination of industry expertise and reputation as a thought leader in the research community will be a great fit for Canoe.” Timko said.

Prior to joining Canoe Ventures, Broussard was at MediaLab, where he served as managing partner for four years and developed and implemented proprietary research to identify sales conversion “sticking points” for major MediaLab accounts.

Before MediaLab, he served as senior partner and director of media analytics for mOne/MindShare, where he oversaw a department that provided strategic research guidance in planning/buying direct response and digital media, and he orchestrated primary research surveys to gain deeper understanding of clients’ target audience and advertising effects.

In the past, he has held various executive and leadership posts at Ogilvy & Mather (as partner and associate director of media research); CBS Television Network, where he was director of market analysis; and at Vitt Media International as vice president of research.

Broussard served as co-chair of the Online Media Council at the Advertising Research Foundation from 2005 to 2006 and is a past chair of the Media Rating Council.

Canoe Ventures was formed in 2008 as a joint venture between Bright House Networks, Cablevision Systems, Charter Communications, Comcast Corp., Cox Communications and Time Warner Cable.
