RGB Networks has added another product to its Broadcast Network Processor (BNP) lineup with today’s debut of the BNP3xr.

The BNP3xr is built on the same video processing technology as RGB’s BNP2xr and BNPxr, but it offers new redundancy features, as well as support for international broadcast encryption standards.

The two-rack unit BNP3xr offers several additional features that include:

  • Dual hot swappable, redundant power supplies and fan modules to ensure uninterrupted operation in the unlikely event a failure should occur
  • Support for DVB conditional access SimulCrypt encryption, which RGB said was particularly relevant in international markets
  • Support for grooming, statistical multiplexing, transrating, digital ad and overlay insertion, digital emergency alert system (EAS) notification, operator messaging and program substitution, and it can simultaneously process more than 760 MPEG-2 and MPEG-4/H.264 video streams

“We listened to our customers and have responded to their evolving requirements with this new member of the BNP family,” said Ramin Farassat, vice president of product marketing and business development for RGB Networks. “The added redundancy features of the BNP3xr increase our customers’ peace of mind, while its support for DVB-CA allows international operators to cost-effectively add and deploy secure video services.”
