MobiTV debuts cross-platform, multi-screen DRM offering
MobiTV has come up with its own digital rights management platform that works across multiple screens and platforms.
MobiTV’s DRM solution allows users to store content on their mobile devices in order to view it offline whenever they want.
MobiTV said its DRM would also allow for a number of business models, including subscriptions, rental, content metering, and sharing of content across multiple devices and platforms. By using one DRM across multiple screens and platforms, MobiTV said the end user’s experience is simplified.
MobiTV said it worked with content providers to come up with its own DRM offering.
“It was imperative for us, as multi-screen distribution becomes core to our business, to create a solution that allows for consumption of content on multiple screens and platforms, whether someone is on a plane or sitting in front of their home television,” said Cedric Fernandes, vice president of technology at MobiTV Inc. “This solution provides the ability to track and supply content rights for the end user, as well as the device, creating new business models around the multichannel screen-viewing concept.”
MobiTV’s customer list of mobile service operators includes AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon, as well as content partners like CBS, ESPN, MTV Networks, NBC and Warner Music.
