Insight Communications brought in $981 million in revenue in 2009, a 13 percent increase compared with 2008.
As of Dec. 31, the cable operator’s total customer relationships equaled 775,700, an increase of 16,100 since Dec. 31, 2008. Insight’s total revenue-generating units were 2.04 million at the end of 2009, a 9 percent increase compared with year-end 2008 and a gain of 160,500.
Total average monthly revenue per basic customer increased from $104.52 in 2008 to $113.81 in 2009.
In 2009, Insight gained 8,800 basic subscribers, for a total of 716,400; the op added 43,000 high-speed Internet customers, for a grand total of 501,500; Insight nabbed 69,900 digital subscribers to total 509,400; and the operator added 38,900 telephone customers, to end the year with 314,500.
As of Dec. 31, Insight said that 99 percent of the company’s customers were passed by two-way, 750 MHz or a higher-capacity network.
For the fourth quarter of 2009, Insight gained 23,200 RGUs: it gained 8,100 high-speed Internet subs, 13,700 digital cable customers and 3,100 telephone subs, and the operator lost 1,800 basic cable subscribers.
Insight Communications, currently the ninth-largest cable operator in the U.S., serves customers in Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio. It is the 13th-largest multichannel video programming distributor, according to the National Cable & Telecommunications Association’s rankings.
Insight increased its RGUs in the third quarter of 2009 but lost some basic video subscribers.
