Charter gives broadband subs a boost
Charter is automatically increasing Internet download speeds for customers of its Express and Internet Plus tiers, and it is also increasing both the upload and download speeds for its Internet Max tier subs.
- Charter Internet Express now has download speeds up to 8 Mbps (previously up to 5 Mbps) and upload speeds up to 1 Mbps.
- Charter Internet Plus offers download speeds up to 16 Mbps (previously up to 10 Mbps) and upload speeds up to 2 Mbps.
- Charter Internet Max provides download speeds up to 25 Mbps (previously up to 20 Mbps) and upload speeds up to 3 Mbps (previously up to 2 Mbps).
The increases are at no additional cost to subscribers. The increases follow Charter’s introduction of PowerBoost, which provides a temporary extra burst of speed during downloads when network capacity is available.
"It's important to a consumer who can't always pay more to get more, and Charter understands that," added Mr. DiGeronimo. "Charter Internet is faster, it brings our customers great value and it doesn't cost them more. Charter provides the fastest, most reliable Internet speeds available, and increasing these speeds is a no-cost bonus. It's another way we can demonstrate our commitment to our customers and to continually enhancing our products and services."
Appropriating ideas from some popular recent YouTube videos, the company stitched together videos from multiple subscribers to create its commercials touting the speed increases.
