AT&T has rolled out its U-verse video service in southwest Missouri where it will go head-to-head with Mediacom Communications and satellite video providers.

The U-verse video offering is now available in Springfield, Battlefield, Nixa, Republic and parts of Fremont Hills.

According to a local news station’s Website, KSPR, Missouri instituted a state franchising law in 2007 that allowed other video providers to offer their services.

Last year Mediacom upgraded its network in the Springfield area in order to offer more HD choices. It launched a DOCSIS 3.0-enabled service in Springfield, with 50 Mbps on the downstream and 5 on the upstream, for commercial and residential customers in January.
