Time Warner Cable’s DOCSIS 3.0 service has touched down in Cincinnati, marking the second deployment of the faster wideband tiers since the initial launch in New York City in September.
Time Warner Cable Business Class launched its Business Class Wideband Internet on Tuesday. The speeds are the same as in New York, with the fastest being up to 50 Mbps on the downstream and 5 Mbps on the upstream, with another tier at 20 Mbps down and 2 Mbps up. Time Warner Cable Business Class competes against various tiers offered by Cincinnati Bell in the area.
In Cincinnati, the 50 Mbps service is priced at $349.95 per month, while the 20 Mbps is $309.95. In New York City, the 50 Mbps service is priced at $289.95, while the 20 Mbps is $199.95.
While the New York City market launched with both residential and business DOCSIS 3.0 services, the faster speeds are currently available to just businesses in Cincinnati.

A spokesman for Time Warner Cable said more DOCSIS 3.0 deployments would be announced over the coming months. Time Warner Cable didn’t say what DOCSIS 3.0 gear it’s using in Cincinnati, but its list of D3 vendors includes Cisco, Arris and SMC Networks.
Yesterday, Time Warner Cable, the nation’s second-largest cable operator, announced that it recently reached 9 million residential high-speed data subscribers. Time Warner Cable ended last year as the third-largest ISP in the nation in terms of the total number of residential and commercial broadband subscribers. Currently, more than 62 percent of Time Warner Cable’s customers subscribe to its residential high-speed data service.
