PPC to buy Evolution Broadband
Cable connector vendor PPC has agreed in principle to buy Englewood, Colo.-based Evolution Broadband, but Evolution Digital will remain a separate entity.
Financial terms of the deal, which is expected to close over the next 30 to 60 days, weren’t disclosed.
PPC said the acquisition of Evolution Broadband would unite two proven lines of complementary products and services into one extensive portfolio. All PPC and Evolution Broadband customers will have access to the combined product portfolios of both companies.
PPC makes cable connectors and filters for the cable, satellite TV and wireless industries, while Evolution Broadband’s focus is on in-home network gear.

Evolution Digital will continue its focus on selling and developing products for cable operators that help them reclaim bandwidth by converting to an all-digital environment.
Last year, Evolution Digital received a three-year waiver from the Federal Communications Commission for its low-cost set-top box that included a digital terminal adapter.
Evolution Digital also has a partnership with TiVo that features an over-the-top VOD-like service for small- to mid-size cable operators without the traditional VOD infrastructure.
Evolution Digital will continue to be managed by Principal Chris Egan and President Brent Smith.
