Cox Communications has bolstered its TV lineup in Hampton Roads, Va., with the addition of five HD channels and two more VOD offerings.
Cox, which competes against Verizon in the Hampton Roads area, added MSNBC HD, More Max HD, The Movie Channel/TMC HD, Comcast SportsNet HD and Cox HD. The new channels started airing yesterday.
More Max and The Movie Channel are available to subscribers of premium channels Cinemax and Showtime, respectively.
"We are delighted to offer these new HD channels,” said Cox vice president of marketing Chris Pantoya. “Our HDTV customers can continue to count on us to deliver the best and most popular high-definition programming."
Cox also added the SWRV Music Choice Channel to its Variety tier, as well as the Filipino Channel On Demand and Shalom TV in VOD.
Earlier this week, Cox announced that Janet Barnard was promoted to senior vice president and general manager of Cox Kansas/Arkansas, according to a story in The Wichita Eagle. Barnard is slated to start her new job Feb. 22.
Barnard takes over for Kimberly Edmunds, who was promoted to senior vice president for customer operations in Cox’s Atlanta headquarters.
Barnard, a 22-year Cox employee, is currently at Cox’s Fairfax County, Va., operation and has also made stops in Omaha and Texas during her career at Cox.
