• OpenTV, Coverity collaborate on middleware testing

OpenTV announced a collaboration effort with Coverity that was designed to bolster OpenTV’s middleware testing environment.
Starting this month, OpenTV will offer Coverity Static Analysis software models to its integration and development customers and partners. OpenTV said the Coverity models will help OpenTV customers and partners enhance the quality and performance of the integration work they are able to perform with OpenTV’s middleware in their own development labs, thereby saving a significant amount of time in the integration phase of an OpenTV customer launch.
“OpenTV is committed to quality, performance and improving time to market for its customers,” said Joel Zdepski, senior vice president and general manager of middleware at OpenTV. “Partnering with Coverity is yet another example of how we are ensuring that our customers are receiving the most reliable middleware technology available today so that they can, in turn, provide the best viewing experience to their subscribers.”
• Jones/NCTI begins jobs public service program

Jones/NCTI and the Urban League of Metropolitan Denver are collaborating on a new program to provide underserved and displaced workers, as well as at-risk inner city students, with workforce job training that will allow for entry into high-demand career opportunities in cable and broadband.
The partners are calling the initiative the Broadband Opportunity Learning Development (BOLD) program.
Jones/NCTI said that beginning in early 2010, selected students from Montbello High School and Hope Online in Denver will begin taking the Jones/NCTI Installer Qualification (IQ) program. Upon completion of each online course, each student will undergo a hands-on assessment using the BOLD program’s official Hands-On Training (HOT) House, a scaled version of a typical residence. The HOT House provides students with the hands-on training needed to perform broadband installations in a true residential setting.
