Sandvine, Optenet combo on easy parental controls

Sandvine and Optenet have entered into a strategic partnership to create parental controls that service providers can offer their broadband subscribers.

The two have integrated Optenet’s content filtering and threat analysis technology with Sandvine’s application- and subscriber-awareness platform.

The combination provides real-time classification of Web content, the partners said.

The approach enables subscribers to configure their own content filtering preferences. Preferences are stored at the network level, so if a subscriber were to makes changes in their browser configuration, it would not affect the parental controls in place.

“Internet service providers are looking for more and more ways to offer personalized services and increase the overall quality of experience for their subscribers,” said Tom Donnelly, executive vice president of sales and marketing and co-founder of Sandvine. “Our integrated parental controls solution is an excellent way for service providers to put the controls in the hands of their users and enhance customer loyalty with customized, service-provider-branded filtering service.”
