Alloptic today announced the availability of its 802.3av-compliant 10G EPON platform.
The 10G EPON technology, which Alloptic said was available for controlled introduction, is supported from Alloptic’s “edge10” optical line terminal (OLT).
Alloptic has deployed IEEE standard 802.3ah-compliant 1 Gbps EPON (1G EPON) systems worldwide, supporting a wide range of services, including IPTV, VoIP and cellular backhaul. IEEE 802.3av builds upon the IEEE standard 802.3ah, allowing seamless upgrades via the simultaneous operation of 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps symmetric and asymmetric EPON systems on the same outside plant.
Alloptic also announced the availability of a new range of MicroNode RFoG optical networking units (ONUs): the 500 series MDU MicroNode RFoG ONU. The Alloptic MDU MicroNode R-ONU was designed for deployments in multi-dwelling and multi-tenant units (MDU/MTU) and other applications with demanding distribution wiring.
Alloptic said the MDU MicroNode R-ONU expands core RFoG benefits by eliminating the requirement for a distribution amplifier, saving both equipment and installation costs while also reducing overall noise in the network.
