Women in Cable Telecommunications has named Maria Brennan as its new president and CEO.
Brennan brings more than 22 years of experience managing non-profit organizations to WICT, whose mission for the last three decades has been to develop the skills and advocate for women in cable telecommunications.
Brennan is currently president of American Women in Radio and Television (AWRT) and has served as AWRT’s CEO since 2002.
In 2007, Brennan was elected to serve on the Women’s Leadership Board at Harvard University and is a member of its strategic planning and communications board sub-committees. She is also serving her third term on the Diversity Board of the Federal Communications Commission and is the appointed liaison to Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP).
Additionally, she recently received an Excel award for her quarterly byline, “Hear Me Roar.”
“I appreciate the board’s confidence in me to lead WICT,” Brennan said. "I am proud to have the opportunity to serve the members, corporate partners and chapter leaders of the organization. I look forward to being involved in the exciting future which lies ahead for both WICT and the cable telecommunications industry.”
In May, Benita Fitzgerald Mosley, who for the last eight years was president and CEO of WICT, announced that she was moving on to take on a new post with USA Track & Field (USATF).
