Trilithic gives 860 DSPi a Wi-Fi makeover
Trilithic has added a new Wi-Fi option for its 860 DSPi Field Analyzer – attractive to cable systems that are deploying Wi-Fi services, but also useful for verifying wireless router access throughout customers’ homes.
The option includes a built-in Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) adapter, and test modes include a survey that provides a list of access points within the range of the meter, along with field strength, status of security and SSID, channel and type, and MAC address.
Additionally, the adapter can be used to connect to any authorized access point for communication of measurement data, meter configuration, or access to Internet Web sites for work order close-out or other productivity-improving functions, the company said.
The Wi-Fi option can be added to any previously shipped 860 DSPi. Because it’s a hardware upgrade, units in the field need to be returned to the factory or scheduled for onsite installation.
In June, Trilithic added DOCSIS 3.0 testing to the 860 DSPi Field Analyzer, which the company said was an industry first. The option has a range of D3-related tests, including complete statistical information about each of the bonded signals. It tests individual downstream receive levels and upstream transmit levels, downstream MER, pre- and post-FEC BER, and it does high-speed data analysis.
