Sandvine has launched a new generation of its Policy Traffic Switch 24000 (PTS 24000) platform; this one features a throughput of up to 60 Gbps per box. The units can be aggregated to achieve a total of 240 Gbps.
The new product is available in models with 40 Gbps or 60 Gbps throughput per box. A 240 Gbps cluster would translate into support for about 5 million subscribers, the company said, and is appropriate for almost any type of network, including cable, DSL, fixed wireless and mobile networks.
The PTS 24000 is designed for converging networks, with flexible fan-in, fan-out port configuration for network expansion. It features N:N+1 redundancy and interfaces with third-party systems such as billing and charging operations and on-deck applications, Sandvine said.
Don Bowman, Sandvine co-founder and CTO, said, “Building on the success of our first-and second-generation platforms, we designed the PTS 24000 with aggregating interfaces and higher port density to address bandwidth and access speed network demands, all while reducing the total cost of ownership.”
Current customers deploying Sandvine’s PTS 24000 include a leading fixed and wireless service provider network serving close to 20 million mobile subscribers and a tier 1 service provider with 1 million subscribers. Both customers are located in Europe.
