Jiangsu Broadcasting Television Network (JBTN), which is one of China’s largest MSOs, picked Motorola for an expansion of its advanced video on demand platform.
The upgrade helps JBTN deliver high-performance and cost effective VOD and time-shifted services to a wider audience of subscribers.
JBTN is deploying Motorola’s end-to-end VOD platform, which includes its B-1 video server and the new B-3 video server. The platform also includes Motorola’s TSX1000 On Demand Management Application for VOD back office functions and CPS1000 Content Propagation System to centralize content libraries and reduce storage costs.
In July, Motorola was also awarded a contract by JBTN to deploy its VOD offering in Kunming city. It is the first inter-provincial project of JBTN in China’s VOD market. With the implementation of these two projects, Motorola said JBTN could enable a VOD platform that supports the equivalent of 69,000 standard definition video streams.
"These latest milestones demonstrate not only our commitment to enable Chinese cable operators to deliver revenue generating applications and solutions but also the advantages of our end-to-end on demand video solution," said Drina Yue, vice president, Motorola Home and Networks Mobility Regional Management, Asia Pacific. “
Motorola has been working with JBTN on the VOD deployment in Jiangsu province for more than two years.
JBTN was established jointly by 17 sponsor companies in Jiangsu and other provinces on April 29, 2008 with the approval of Jiangsu provincial party committee and government. JBTN is a large state-controlled company of broadcasting television culture and the largest local broadcasting television network operator in Jiangsu province.
