Synacor said today that it has hired former Yahoo and Oracle executive C.J. Singh as its new vice president of product and engineering.
Singh, who will be responsible for creating and executing roadmaps for Synacor’s platform and media platforms, joined the company after three years as director of engineering and product development with Yahoo, where he was responsible for the company’s development centers in Latin America.
“Building a successful business is all about really great products, fast time to market and excellent customer service.” said Tim Peterman, COO of Synacor. “C.J. absolutely gets that. He has demonstrated the vision and the expertise that will contribute immediately to our efforts in helping our ISP, advertising and media customers engage consumers and generate revenues.”
While at Yahoo, Singh’s primary focus was on product development for the Emerging Markets business unit. During his three years with the company, he created an incubation strategy for the region and established an “innovation cell” that nurtured new ideas and created new products for Brazilian Internet audiences, among the most sophisticated in the world.
Previously, Singh served four years as senior principal engineer with Oracle, where he architected and developed products and researched new technologies for Oracle’s E-Business Suite.
Earlier this year, Synacor helped Mediacom Communications and Bresnan Communications re-launch their Website portals.
