Suddenlink serves up to customers

Suddenlink, the nation’s eighth-largest MSO, today announced an agreement with that will give its Internet subscribers free access to ESPN’s broadband sports network.

Suddenlink’s data subscribers can access from any computer that is connected to Suddenlink’s service. They can also access from the home page. 

If Suddenlink’s data subscribers want to access when they are away from home or out of town, they have to complete an initial, no-charge registration at and do so while they’re on a computer connected to Suddenlink’s Internet service. 

After that initial registration, customers will have a validated username and password they can use to access anywhere, at any time, from any computer, for no charge.

Viewers will use a video player from that includes trick play functionality such as fast-forward, rewind and pause. With the ability to deliver up to 15 simultaneous live events, fans are able to toggle between events in a main viewing window, and with a single click, jump to another event.

Video can be viewed in widescreen (16:9) and normal (4:3) views and can be expanded to full screen or reduced to a compact size. Recently completed events are archived and available for on-demand replay. A download speed of 450 Kbps or greater is required to view features and content. features live online sports coverage from a broad array of global events, including:

  • Basketball: NBA, WNBA, Euroleague, FIBA, NCAA (men’s and women’s)
  • Football: NCAA college football, AFL
  • Global soccer: FIFA World Cup events and global qualifiers, Confederations Cup, Football League (U.K.), Carling Cup (U.K.), La Liga (Spain), Italian Serie A, Portuguese Liga Sagres, MLS, U.S. national team, international “friendlies” and more
  • Global baseball: MLB, World Baseball Classic, College World Series, Little League World Series
  • Tennis: multi-court coverage of all four “grand slam” events and select other tennis events
  • Golf: extensive coverage of the U.S. Open, The Masters, The Open Championship and more
  • Lacrosse: Major League Lacrosse, NCAA College Lacrosse
  • Misc. sports: X Games and Winter X Games, NCAA hockey and softball, open-wheel racing, professional racquetball, international polo and more

The financial terms of the agreement weren’t available.
