Insight Communications reported its second-quarter operating statistics, the highlights of which included a 13 percent increase in revenue, as well as an increase in revenue-generating units (RGUs) approaching a quarter-million.

The company reported revenue of $243.4 million, a 13 percent increase over Q2 2008. Insight’s adjusted operating income before depreciation and amortization was $77.5 million, an 11 percent increase over last year.

Total customer relationships climbed to 775,100 as of June 30, an increase of 32,700 over June 30, 2008. Those customers represented a total RGU count of 1.99 million, an increase of 237,400, or 14 percent, from a year ago.

For the quarter, that was 18,800 total RGU net additions. The company lost 3,600 basic customers, leaving it a total of 720,100. That loss was offset by gains of 3,000 broadband customers (for a total of 481,500); 13,200 digital customers (for a total of 483,400); and 6,100 phone customers (for a total of 306,200).

By way of comparison, in the immediately preceding first quarter, Insight added 91,000 RGUs.

The company held its capital expenditure rock steady, spending $49.5 million, just as it had the immediately preceding quarter.
