Cox Communications has introduced its new screen interface for its On Demand service in its systems in Rhode Island and Connecticut.

Cox said capabilities included in the interface upgrades are:

  • Horizontal scrolling, providing quicker navigation through folders
  • 'Skip' functions that allow the user to skip forward or backward in 15-minute intervals while fast-forwarding or rewinding
  • Movie previews available directly from a folder's main menu
  • Jump back 10 seconds with the new Instant Replay function

Making navigation easier becomes more important as more choices become available. Cox is immediately putting its interface to the test: It simultaneously increased the amount of On Demand programming available to subscribers in those systems, including more choices to FreeZone, more HD content and more Movies On Demand.
