Verizon Business is getting deep into the cloud computing market, securing certification from Cisco as a provider of data center systems and networks based on Cisco products.

Cisco has designated Verizon Business as a Data Center Unified Computing Authorized Technology Provider (ATP), attesting to Verizon Business’ expertise and skills required to deploy Cisco's premises-based unified data center solution.

The Cisco Unified Computing System unites network, computational, storage access and virtualization resources, all with integrated management.

"The Cisco Unified Computing System will complement Verizon's data center strategy by enhancing our ability to deliver holistic and innovative data center solutions to enterprise customers, whether premises- or network-based," said Mike Marcellin, vice president of Verizon global managed solutions.

Verizon Business is the first U.S.-based communications solutions provider to attain Cisco’s Unified Computing System ATP status.
