Qwest gets contract from Utah
Utah has given Qwest Communications a three-year, $7.2 million contract to provide it with a converged voice and data network.
Qwest said it has already begun connecting 300 locations in Salt Lake City and along Utah’s Wasatch Front using its Metro Optical Ethernet (QMOE) data networking platform. Thirty government sites have been connected so far.
The network is providing speeds of up to 1 Gbps to each site.
Sharon Montgomery, vice president of Qwest government and education solutions, said: “We’re working with the state of Utah to help provide citizens with innovative ways to access government services. Qwest Ethernet lets people work online instead of standing in line at the DMV and other state agencies. Consolidating technologies saves the state time and money, and can do the same for Utah’s business community.”
