Optimum Business offers toll-free service to New York area businesses

Optimum Business, a division of Cablevision, is offering small and medium business customers in its New York metropolitan area footprint the option of purchasing toll-free numbers as part of its digital voice service package.

Optimum Voice can provide a new toll-free number, or port a customer’s existing number, and vanity numbers can also be ported to area codes 800, 888, 877 and 866.

“A toll-free number is an important customer enhancement for businesses conveying a more professional, established image in the marketplace,” said Joseph Varello, Cablevision's vice president of Optimum Voice and small business product management. “Expanding beyond local telephone numbers, toll-free numbers project a presence that reaches beyond the boundary of their local area code. With Optimum Voice, customers do not have to change their phone number, and Optimum Business can port it over quickly.”

In addition to branding, Optimum Business said toll-free numbers are also useful for advertising, Web site and catalog-driven phone orders, and direct mail campaigns, as well as customer service.

“A toll-free number says you care about your customer and can provide insight for tracking campaigns and calls,” said David Friedlander, president and CEO of Freeport, N.Y.-based Vitamin Power Inc. “In addition to driving communication with our customers, we now have the same great value we have come to expect from Optimum with one easy-to-read bill.”

Customers can manage their toll-free numbers through the Optimum Voice Web portal. Features include the ability to change the toll-free point to number to any Optimum Voice number on their account and access to call detail records that capture essential information such as calling party number, location, date and time.
