Comcast builds gaming community with RealGames, Bunchball

Mike Robuck has struck up partnerships with Real Games, which is a division of Real Networks, and Bunchball in order to offer gamers new features., which is Comcast’s broadband Web portal, said the partnerships will allow Comcast’s high-speed data subscribers the ability to create player profiles, customize avatars, chat, create trivia games and earn points for virtual prizes.’s Game Channel provides online puzzle, arcade and card games, including Solitaire and Scrabble. It currently has 1.5 million community members that generate a total of roughly 22,000 hours of game play a day.

“We are thrilled to partner with RealGames and Bunchball, as they’ll be able to extend their best-in-class services and products to our growing community base,” said Scott Bailey, senior vice president and general manager of for Comcast Interactive Media. “We wanted to create a place where game lovers could socialize and enjoy some light competition and, based on early response, we’re seeing that our Games Channel is resonating with users.”

The partnership with RealGames allows users to download trial versions of games, or pay for the full versions. is using Bunchball’s Nitro tool to let customers earn points toward virtual goods.
