Cable operators are increasing their focus on “going green,” and on that note the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers said it would feature a “Green Pavilion” during October’s Cable-Tec Expo in Denver.
Along with the SCTE Green Pavilion, which is part of the SCTE’s new Expo Cable Technology Spotlight, there will also be a general session on green initiatives.
Cable operators are looking at green initiatives as a way to not only promote energy-efficient technologies, but to also improve their bottom lines by using less energy.
Under the auspices of an MSO Steering Council, the SCTE said the Green Pavilion will assemble a set of qualified exhibitors, each focused on at least one of three specific areas: powering improvements for facilities and plant, fleet enhancements involving smart routing and other fleet management options, and operational upgrades and improvements to enable additional efficiencies.
The general session is scheduled for Oct. 30 and will comprise a panel of participants who are well-versed with various energy-efficient initiatives being undertaken or studied by cable operators.
