Cisco adds products for small businesses
Already firmly established in the enterprise market, Cisco continues to expand its focus on small businesses. To that end, Cisco announced new products, along with service and support programs for small companies.
The company has two separate small business portfolios: Cisco Small Business and Cisco Small Business Pro.
New products added to the latter include a new series of Ethernet switches and a telephony gateway.
Cisco describes its new ESW 500 Series Switches as high-performance managed Ethernet switches. They integrate with other Cisco Small Business Pro solutions, as well as the Cisco Smart Business Communications System to build a reliable business network.
The SPA8800 IP Telephony Gateway is designed to be a cost-effective solution that enables small businesses to connect their Open Source IP PBX to existing analog phones and fax machines.
The company’s Small Business Series of products was expanded with the new PVC300 IP Camera designed for video surveillance.
Cisco also announced enhancements to the Cisco Smart Business Communications System. Cisco said SBCS has a lower per-seat cost when coupled with the new ESW 500 Series Switches.
SBCS Release 1.5 includes new applications, including WebEx PhoneConnect, which enables small businesses to view meetings and join online conferences; Cisco TimeCardView, which allows staff to clock in and out, track hours and download information to payroll applications from their IP phone; and Single Number Reach, which employees can use to designate which device to route calls to (desk phone, mobile device, soft phone or other phone).
Cisco has also crafted a set of plans for technical and business support.
The ESW 500 Series Switches range in price from $659 to $3,299, depending on the model. Cisco SBCS Release 1.5 can be priced as low as $453 per user; prices vary by region, number of users, and on business needs and specific configurations. The Telephony Gateway is listed at $600. The IP Camera is $794.
