In what is being billed as the first interactive advertising offering using Enhanced Binary Interchange Format, Biap announced today the launch of its Ad Widgets Advertising System with OneLink Communications.
OneLink Communications serves the metropolitan area of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and the agreement between the two companies is slated to bring interactive advertising to OneLink's digital subscribers later this summer.
Biap’s Ad Widgets deliver interactivity to standard 30-second spots to enable requests for information, voting and polling, video-on-demand telescoping and click-to-call features. OneLink will also use these advanced interactive features in its own commercials to promote various cross-platform products and services to existing OneLink customers.
Biap’s widgets platform is built on the EBIF standard, which enables interactivity on older set-top boxes while operators gear up for tru2way in their networks.
“Everyone agrees that interactive features built into traditional television advertising will generate incremental revenue. This is why the cable industry created the EBIF standard,” said Ron Dorchester, OneLink’s CEO. “We have been running Biap’s EBIF platform since September 2008, and we have tremendous confidence in it. Over the past 10 months it has performed seamlessly, supporting various applications, and we are excited about the economic upside of interactive advertising made possible with Biap’s advanced advertising solution.”
