AT&T has extended Alcatel-Lucent's contract for end-to-end, multi-vendor network integration for AT&T U-verse, the equipment vendor announced.
Alcatel-Lucent was the system integrator for Project Lightspeed, the pre-cursor to U-verse initiated by SBC before it became part of what is now AT&T.
U-verse TV, U-verse High-Speed Internet and U-verse Voice services are all delivered over an IP network based on Alcatel-Lucent's Triple-Play Service Delivery Architecture (TPSDA).
The contract extension means Alcatel-Lucent will continue to provide end-to-end, multi-vendor network integration for AT&T U-verse, including the Microsoft Mediaroom IPTV software platform.
AT&T said U-verse services are now offered in 93 markets in 19 states, with more than 1.3 million U-verse TV customers.
