Verizon Wireless got it (story here), and now Sprint plans to offer the Novatel Wireless MiFi 2200 to its customers for a portable Wi-Fi hotspot experience.

Sprint plans to launch the MiFi 2200 for $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a new two-year service agreement. The MiFi 2200, available in the first week of June, will allow users to connect to the Internet by bridging Wi-Fi-enabled devices like laptops, MP3 players and gaming devices to Sprint’s EVDO Rev A network.

Sprint will launch the service under the Sprint Mobile Hotspot name, and it will be the first in the United States to support MiFi’s GPS capabilities, allowing users to take advantage of select location and mapping applications, according to Sprint.

Business and consumer customers can choose from a $59.99 monthly broadband plan or a $149.99 monthly Simply Everything plan. Both plans include up to 5 GB per month and 5 cents per megabyte overage for the MiFi 2200.

Sprint says its plan represents a savings of $599 per year versus comparable Verizon plans.

Soon after its retail launch, Sprint Wholesale will offer a version of the Novatel MiFi 2200 to wholesale wireless partners.

Novatel unveiled the device back in December.
