Mediacom’s broadband portal gets a makeover from Synacor

Mediacom Communications, the nation’s eighth-largest cable operator, has spiffed up its broadband portal with the aid of Synacor.

Under the terms of the agreement, Synacor will provide Mediacom with a customizable broadband portal, in addition to the value-added content that Synacor has been providing to Mediacom’s highest-tier broadband subscribers for the past three years.

“It’s increasingly important in today’s competitive environment to create and strengthen a relationship with our online customers beyond just superior connection speeds,” said Dan Templin, group vice president of strategic marketing and product development for Mediacom.  “We chose to partner with Synacor to take advantage of its portal expertise and to deliver a complete Internet experience that integrates an intuitive, engaging portal with outstanding broadband content. 

“Our new portal also provides enhanced customer care and communication tools that allow Mediacom to engage our customers, and for them to engage the company, more conveniently than ever before.”

Synacor’s customizable portals are designed to serve as the preferred starting point for the consumption of all Internet-based consumer services, including e-mail, news, video and other features. 

Using Synacor’s single sign-on process, customers are identified and recognized, enabling targeted delivery of compelling features and localized information that drive portal use and providing an industry-leading system for the secure delivery of propriety content over the broadband platform.     

Last month, Synacor helped Bresnan Communications re-launch its Web portal (story here).
