Evolution Digital and TiVo said they have a formal agreement to provide broadband-enabled DVRs specifically for independent cable operators.

By going all-digital, cable systems free up capacity for additional high-definition programming.

When offered through a TiVo set-top box, that HD programming is seamlessly combined with content from IP video services that can be downloaded or streamed to the TiVo, Evolution Digital explained.

Brent Smith, president of Evolution Digital, said: “TiVo provides an ideal entertainment platform that allows cable operators to take advantage of reclaimed bandwidth to expand HD content combined with new and expanding IP broadband video. With TiVo, our subscribers can access almost any show, movie or song right from their TiVo DVR.”
