Shenick Network Systems has released version 5.2 of its diversifEye software, with new upgrades designed for next-generation networks (NGNs), including the ability to test SIP-controlled video-on-demand (VOD) – what Shenick said is a market first.

The upgrade also reduces the complexity of user authentication in NGN and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) multi-service delivery environments.

Shenick, a provider of per-flow IP communication test and monitoring systems, announced during The Cable Show 2009 that it was the first company to concurrently test and measure IPv4 and IPv6 traffic on a per-flow basis for the DOCSIS 3.0 and EuroDOCSIS specifications (story here). Shenick said it was the first and only company to concurrently generate IPv6 and IPv4 flows to represent a single customer dialing into a cable network, and to test those flows on a granular per-flow basis with its diversifEye platform.

DiversifEye greatly expands the number of Internet addresses that cable operators may use, which allows them to provide consumers with more IP-based services. It also enables cable MSOs to effectively manage devices that are capturing consumer interest, such as portable media players, PDAs and triple-play services.

And diversifEye 5.2 now also supports security-enabled applications such as VoIP and Secure Web (HTTPS) emulation and analysis using SSL/TLS.
