Canoe Ventures taps Eason as chief data officer

Advanced advertising firm Canoe Ventures has hired Mike Eason as its chief data officer and senior vice president.

Prior to Canoe Ventures, Eason worked for Capital One as vice president. He also worked at Ernst & Young before joining Capital One in 1998.

Canoe Ventures is a joint venture among Bright House Networks, Time Warner Cable, Comcast, Cox Communications, Charter Communications and Cablevision that seeks to create a nationwide platform for addressable, or targeted, advertising, which will in turn stem the flow of advertising dollars to the Internet.

Last summer, former Bright House Networks executive Arthur Orduna joined Canoe Ventures as the company’s chief technical officer (story here).

Canoe Ventures officially formed in June, while CEO David Verklin started work in the Manhattan headquarters on Aug. 4.
