Cable Show ’09 sessions to feature top cable execs

The Cable Show 2009 – being held at the Washington, D.C., Convention Center April 1-3 – will have two new sessions chockfull of top cable executives, the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) announced.

The "Cable Technology and the Platform for Change" session panel will discuss how operators are preparing their technology platforms to serve new consumer demands, while leveraging existing investments in plant, performance and potential. Cable technology veteran Jim Chiddix will moderate the session, which will also serve as the CTO session for the SCTE’s Emerging Technologies (ET) Conference. 

The "Cable Technology and the Platform for Change" session will take place on April 2 at 2:30 p.m. EST. Panelists will include:

  • Jim Blackley, senior vice president of engineering and technology, Cablevision Systems Corp.
  • Michael Lee, chief strategy officer, Rogers Communications
  • Mike LaJoie, executive vice president and CTO, Time Warner Cable
  • Tony Werner, executive vice president and CTO, Comcast

The "Welcome to the Jungle: Marketing to Win" session panel will focus on communicating to consumers cable's value and evolving product set in a competitive environment. The panel will be produced in partnership with the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM) and will be moderated by Char Beales, president and CEO of CTAM. 

The "Welcome to the Jungle: Marketing to Win" session will take place on April 3 at 11 a.m. EST. Panelists will include:

  • Jerry Dow, chief marketing officer, Suddenlink Communications
  • Jonathan Hargis, senior vice president of marketing and advertising, Cablevision
  • Sam Howe, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, Time Warner Cable
  • Peter Intermaggio, senior vice president of marketing communications, Comcast
  • Joe Rooney, chief marketing officer, Cox Communications

"We can't think of a better time to assemble this incredible group of thought leaders in two areas of such critical importance to the industry," said Barbara York, senior vice president of industry affairs for the NCTA. "The existence of these sessions at The Cable Show also reflects the synergy that results from the realignment of industry conventions, conferences and events under the Cable Connection banner."
