Verizon launches home phone hub, with twists
Verizon Wireless today announced a touchscreen home cordless phone system designed to integrate with wireless devices.
The device connects to a cable modem or DSL and functions as a landline. But it also has a contact manager, visual voicemail and wireless alerts via text messaging.
In addition, the Hub provides content such as directions, directory services, traffic and weather updates. It also will offer television service and will scroll pictures when not in use as a telephony device.
Verizon will introduce the new Hub on Feb. 1. It did not announce pricing for the product. It’s also unclear if it will integrate with Verizon’s upcoming femtocell product.
