Arris said today that Dutch cable operator Ziggo has placed a large order for its DOCSIS 3.0-certified embedded Multimedia Terminal Adapters (EMTAs).

Ziggo – a major cable operator in the Netherlands that comprises former operators @Home, Casema and Multikabel – will use Arris’ EMTAs to pair faster Internet speeds with carrier-grade VoIP services for its more than 3 million residential and business customers.

“In the highly-competitive Northern European market, we need to offer our subscribers the highest-quality Internet and voice experience possible,” said Ziggo CTO Paul Hendriks, on announcing the agreement. “Arris is at the forefront of technological innovation in DOCSIS headend and CPE equipment, and we feel confident that they will help us offer our customers a compelling and extremely competitive DOCSIS 3.0 solution.”

Ziggo was founded in May of last year, after @Home, Casema and Multikabel were bundled together. Prior to the formation of Ziggo, those three companies jointly acted under the name "Zesko.”
