Verizon expands service offerings in Pa., Calif., N.Y., Ohio
Residents of Chester, Pa., will soon have access to Verizon’s FiOS TV service, thanks to a unanimous vote by the Chester City Council authorizing the telco to offer its video service in the area.
Verizon plans to begin offering FiOS Internet and FiOS TV to more than 3,600 households in parts of Chester later this month, and the telco will make the services available to all households in the city within six years.
Verizon has also expanded the availability of its FiOS TV service in the California counties of Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura.
FiOS TV service is now available to thousands of homes and businesses in parts of Baldwin Park, Hemet, La Puente, San Bernardino and Upland. Verizon has also made FiOS TV available to more customers in additional areas of Glendora, La Verne, Lakewood, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Montclair, Pomona, Thousand Oaks, Yucaipa and unincorporated Los Angeles County.
Additionally, residents and businesses in more areas of western New York now have access to FiOS TV. Verizon recently began offering a bundled package of FiOS TV, FiOS Internet and wired voice services in parts of Blasdell, Kenmore and Lackawanna. In addition, Verizon is spreading FiOS TV availability to more areas in the previously activated towns and villages of Amherst, Hamburg, Orchard Park, Tonawanda and West Seneca.
And more consumers and businesses in 12 Ohio communities now have access to Verizon’s high-speed Internet service. Verizon has installed high-speed Internet equipment, based on DSL technology, at the company's communications facilities in Athens, Bellevue, Clyde, Huron, Jackson, Logan, McArthur, Norwalk, Oak Harbor, Oberlin, Pomeroy and Port Clinton.
Verizon's entry-level service offers speeds of up to1 Mbps downstream and 384 Kbps upstream. Consumers can order the new entry-level service for $9.99 per month for the first six months with a one-year contract. Under the contract, monthly pricing for the remainder of the annual plan will be $25.99 per month. Verizon's up-to-3 Mbps/768 Kbps service is $19.99 for the first six months as part of an annual plan, with the following six-month pricing of $33.99 per month.
