VoIP customers of Time Warner Cable’s Oceanic division began experiencing service interruptions yesterday.

TWC has had intermittent service problems throughout California during the past week, and the problems in Hawaii appear to be an extension of those.

The root of the problems is a malfunctioning router in Orange County, Calif., according to a report in Hawaii’s Star-Bulletin (story here).

"It's the kind of problem that they haven't been able to put their fingers on because it's intermittent, which is why they haven't been able to easily fix it," Alan Pollock, vice president of marketing, told the Star-Bulletin. "To my knowledge, it's the first time we've had a problem that we weren't able to resolve immediately. It's escalated up to our senior management, so they're using all their resources to get this resolved as quickly as possible."
