CableLabs certifies Netgear’s EMTA for DOCSIS 3.0, PacketCable
Netgear said yesterday that its embedded multimedia terminal adapter (EMTA) gained CableLabs’ stamp of approval for DOCSIS 3.0 and PacketCable 1.5 in a recent certification wave.
Netgear’s CVD31XT cable voice modem, which has two voice lines, was certified in CableLabs’ Certification Wave 64. CableLabs' DOCSIS 3.0 requires that each device be able to bond at least four channels on the upstream and downstream paths, which can result in downstream speeds of 160 Mbps and upstream speeds of 120 Mbps.
Netgear’s CVD31XT Cable EMTA comes with IPv6 compatibility, which is another feature of DOCSIS 3.0, and is also backwards compatible with DOCSIS 2.0, DOCSIS 1.1 and DOCSIS 1.0.
It also has both USB 2.0 and Gigabit Ethernet ports, and comes equipped with a back-up battery to maintain service during power failures.
