Vudu has introduced a new Internet movie player designed specifically for professional home theater installations. It’s essentially the Vudu XL, introduced early in 2008, but in a rack-mount format, for which customers will pay $1,300 – in contrast to $1,000 for the idiosyncratic design of the original.
Vudu claims “hundreds” of titles in its proprietary HDX format, along with access to another 10,000 titles.

The XL2 offers a terabyte of storage – like the XL; the company calculates that it’s enough capacity to store more than 500 films.
Vudu warrants a virtually artifact-free 1080p picture and immersive, high-definition (HD) sound.
