Tandberg, Ericsson bow new products at TelcoTV
Tandberg Television and parent company Ericsson are unveiling new offerings for IPTV, HDTV and VOD at the TelcoTV show in Anaheim, Calf.
For IPTV headend compression, Tandberg will demonstrate a broad range of products including itsRX8320 ATSC Broadcast Receiver and the latest enhancements to the iPlex Video Processing Platform, featuring integrated MPEG-4 AVC transcoding.
The Ericsson IPTV offering combines leading network solutions, service layer applications and systems integration capabilities in a TV platform that delivers on the company's vision of “The Individual Television Experience.” Visitors to this part of the show booth can learn how telco operators can differentiate their TV offerings and provide innovative services that attract and retain consumers.
This area will also feature the United States debut of Ericsson's IPTV middleware, which Ericsson said is the first technology in the world to be pre-integrated with IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem), which also operates across non-IMS networks.
On the video software side, Tandberg will showcase its currently deployed technologies for workflow automation, on-demand content production, targeted dynamic advertising, content distribution and VOD back-office. These offerings support HD content and help enable services such as nPVR, time-shifted TV, VOD and personalized advertising services among operators.
"IPTV opens the door to a new world of on-demand and personalized multimedia that enables operators to differentiate their services, reduce subscriber churn and increase revenue per subscriber. We believe that HD is critical for the success and adoption of IPTV in the United States and that by offering a variety of HD programming and on-demand content, service providers can remain competitive as they strive to deliver high quality, high value, personalized television services," said Ian Tapp, Senior Vice President of Business Development, at Tandberg Television.
