The Senate has passed a bill that would allow broadcasters to continue using their analog signals for one month after Feb. 17 to provide only public emergency information and information on the digital transition.
A similar bill in the House is being considered and must pass before the so-called “nightlight” plan can be implemented.
Meredith Attwell Baker, Assistant Commerce Secretary for Communications and Information and administrator of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), has thrown her support behind the measure.
The text of the Senate bill is here.
