Cablevision’s complaints about a recent Verizon ad touting the quality of the latter’s FiOS service were partially upheld. Cablevision’s victory is Pyrrhic at best, though.

The National Advertising Division of the Better Business Bureau, which handles complaints about the truthfulness of ads, determined that Verizon’s claims of brighter color and no pixelation were unjustifiable.

From Cablevision’s point of view, so far so good.

On the other hand, the NAD said Verizon was justified with its claim that FiOS provides “the best picture and sound you're ever gonna get. It's insane.”

From Cablevision’s standpoint, not so good anymore.

The NAD said Verizon respectfully disagreed with its findings (read the findings here), but that it would comply in the future.
