• NCTA calls for Vanguard Awards nominations

The National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) has issued its annual call for nominations for the Vanguard Awards, which honor the cable industry's leaders and professionals whose accomplishments merit the recognition of the entire cable industry. Nominations are due to the NCTA by Jan. 16. Further information and nomination forms are available here.
Award candidates may be nominated by representatives of NCTA member companies, and the winners are selected by an Awards Committee comprising several members of the NCTA board of directors, as well as by former award winners. The awards will be presented at a special reception and ceremony on April 3, 2009, during The Cable Show '09 in Washington, D.C.
Award winners are honored in the following categories: Distinguished Vanguard Award for Leadership (Man), Distinguished Vanguard Award for Leadership (Woman), Vanguard Award for Cable Operations Management, Vanguard Award for Programmers, Vanguard Award for Science and Technology, Vanguard Award for Government and Community Relations, Vanguard Award for Marketing, Vanguard Award for Associates and Affiliates and Vanguard Award for Young Leadership.
• Windstream completes sale of N.C. wireless assets to AT&T

Windstream has completed the sale of its wireless properties in North Carolina to AT&T for approximately $60 million in cash. The deal was announced in August.
The transaction includes approximately 52,000 wireless customers, spectrum licenses and cell sites covering a four-county area of North Carolina, with a population of approximately 450,000, as well as six retail locations.
Windstream acquired the wireless properties in the acquisition of CT Communications, which offered co-branded wireless products and services through a joint operating agreement with AT&T.
