Verizon is now offering more than 100 high-definition (HD) channels on its FiOS TV lineup in the Massachusetts region. More than 500 channels, including 102 HD channels, are now available on FiOS TV in Massachusetts.
The telco said that it now offers at least 30 more HD channels than any cable operator in the Bay State, including Comcast.
In Silver Spring, Md., Verizon’s FiOS TV service is launching 55 new channels, including 53 in HD. FiOS TV customers in the area now have more than 800 HD choices available at any time, with access to a total of 105 HD channels in the market and more than 700 HD video-on-demand (VOD) titles offered each month.
And residents of Shoreline and Mill Creek, Wash., will soon have access to Verizon’s video service, thanks to newly approved agreements allowing the telco to offer FiOS TV in the areas.
Shoreline and Mill Creek are the 15th and 16th communities in the state to grant a video franchise to Verizon, following recent approvals in Bothell, Brier, Edmonds, Everett, Kenmore, Kirkland, Lynnwood, Marysville, Mountlake Terrace, Mukilteo, Redmond, Woodinville, Woodway and Snohomish County.
Finally, Verizon has completed its multimillion-dollar, privately funded 2008 network expansion project in western Massachusetts, which will bring the company’s broadband service to thousands of consumers.
Verizon's high-speed Internet service is now being offered in most areas of Heath and Leyden, Mass. Recently, Verizon introduced the service in the western Massachusetts communities of Blandford, Becket, Colrain, Cummington, Florida, Goshen, Hancock, Leverett, Middlefield, Monroe, Montgomery, New Ashford, New Marlborough, Pelham, Plainfield, Rowe, Sandisfield, Tolland, Washington, Westhampton, Windsor and Worthington. In addition, Verizon has made the service more widely available in Shutesbury.
