Imake signs on to support CableLabs 2.0
Imake Software & Services said today that its on-demand platform now supports CableLabs 2.0 specifications.
The VOD Metadata Content Specification 2.0, which was released by CableLabs in May 2006, is the first application to use the Asset Distribution Interface (ADI) 2.0 Platform Specifications as part of the next-generation of on-demand cable services.
According to CableLabs, version 2.0 migrates the existing single-title VOD metadata 1.1 services onto the next-generation platform in order to allow cable operators better management and scalability, to aid in the implementation of better user interfaces, and to improve on the 1.1 specification by defining additional search options.
Along with supporting the 2.0 specifications, Imake’s OpenVision Content Creator v4.5/v4.6 has new functionality designed to help ease the creation, distribution, delivery and management of content for any user.
OpenVision v4.5/v4.6 now supports remote editing/viewing workstations, allowing the user to quickly acquire and edit content with the latest native MPEG-2/H.264 CableLabs-compliant editing tools.
In 2009, Imake plans to enhance the OpenVision Content Creator to support the insertion of ad campaigns and SCTE triggers into the digitized feature content.
The CableLabs 2.0 specifications and SCTE 130 standard are viewed as key components to the cable industry’s Canoe Ventures advertising platform (story here).
