• Harmonic’s ProStream 2000 completes Mediaroom testing

Harmonic’s ProStream 2000 digital video splicer has completed conformance testing for real-time splicing of national MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) video streams of the Microsoft Mediaroom IPTV platform, the company has announced.
The ProStream 2000 is a component of Harmonic's IP-based ad-insertion solution, is fully compliant with the SCTE 35 and SCTE 30 standards, and can be easily integrated into an IPTV operator's network.
The test for the ProStream 2000 platform was administered by Microsoft Corp. as part of the Microsoft Mediaroom Interoperability and Qualification Lab (IQ Lab) program, Harmonic said. Harmonic powers the video headends for a majority of Microsoft Mediaroom's customers worldwide.
• Philips spins off content ID company Civolution

Philips teamed up with venture capitalist Prime Technology Ventures to spin-off Civolution.
The new company offers content identification, managing and monetization services to content owners and distributors.
The spin-off also includes Teletrax, which was a joint venture formed in 2002 between Philips and Medialink. Teletrax’s technology helps broadcast companies monitor their sources for illegal uses of their encoded material.
• Acme Packet’s SBCs chosen by NGT

Acme Packet has announced that New Global Telecom (NGT), a provider of wholesale hosted and trunk-based VoIP solutions, has deployed Acme Packet’s Net-Net session border controllers (SBCs) to expand its VoIP services.
NGT’s VoIP services are targeted to small- and medium-size businesses, including its SIP trunking offering for Microsoft Response Point. Acme Packet’s SBCs were selected in conjunction with its NextSBC Reassurance Program. The company’s SBCs support NGT’s VoIP services, providing security, maximizing service reach and assuring SLAs.
NGT enables VARs, MSOs and agents to provide nationwide, VoIP-based services to their customers through the company’s channel-ready solutions.
