Verizon announced today that it has added 39 new channels, including 19 in high-definition (HD), in its Maryland and northern Virginia footprints.
Customers of Verizon’s FiOS fiber-optic service in those states now have more than 540 HD choices, which includes 500 HD video-on-demand (VOD) titles.
As a result of the newest HD channels, Verizon said it has more HD offerings than Comcast and Cox Communications in Maryland and northern Virginia.
Verizon is also offering customers in those states free use of either an HD DVR or HD home media DVR if they sign up between now and Oct. 31. Existing or new customers who upgrade to a bundled package will receive one free month of HBO and Cinemax.
