SCTE board of directors’ election process shifting for 2009 election
The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) announced today that the SCTE board of directors’ election process, which usually runs from August through June, will be shifting with the 2009 election.
Voters – who are SCTE members – won’t begin casting ballots until next May for the 2009 election, the SCTE said.
The call for nominations will begin in mid-December and will conclude in early February 2009. The candidate slate for the 2009 election will be posted on the SCTE’s Web site in early April. Voting will begin in mid-May and will conclude toward the end of June. Election results will be announced no later than mid-August, and the newly elected board members will take office in October 2009 at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo.
The Cable-Tec Expo 2009 will occur in October of next year, rather than its usual time slot in June, because of the consolidation of industry trade shows. Expo 2009 will now be a part of Cable Connection-Fall. Since the Expo is where newly elected SCTE board members take office each year, the shift in the election process was necessary due to the shift in trade shows.
The 2008–09 SCTE board of directors is displayed here. The SCTE board of directors includes 12 regional directors, four directors-at-large and one director-at-large for Canada. Board members are elected to two-year terms. Each year, approximately half of the board’s terms expire, according to the SCTE.
