Cisco today announced that Sify, a provider of data telecom and Internet services in India, selected its CRS-1 Carrier Routing System as the foundation of Sify's Internet Protocol Next-Generation Network (IP NGN).
The decision to use Cisco’s equipment was part of Sify's strategy to enhance its existing core network to meet customers' ever-increasing demand for sophisticated network services and to address the rapidly evolving Indian market.
“Sify was the first to launch managed connectivity services over a TCP/IP network in April 1998 and has continually pioneered managed infrastructure services, as well as set the standard for such services in India," said P J Nath, executive president of Sify Enterprise services. "The migration of our core network infrastructure to an IP Next-Generation Network enables us to offer more sophisticated services for voice, video and data, with higher levels of service quality for customers."
The Cisco CRS-1 Carrier Routing System is a core component of the Cisco IP NGN architecture.
